ABOUT THE WILDLIFE INITIATIVE TRUST AFRICA

WHO

The Wildlife Initiative Trust Africa (WITA) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the conservation of Africas most endangered wildlife and natural environment. Their teams will be placed on the frontlines in the war against poaching, fighting to save the wildlife and the natural heritage for the benefit and enjoyment of future generations.

Formed in 2021 by the Read family, WITA aims to be both swift and effective in our contributions towards wildlife through getting more boots and paws on the ground through specialised K9 anti-poaching teams strategically located across the Kaza region, starting with their first unit in Victoria Falls, coming August 2022.

WHY

Due to the financial implications of the pandemic, illegal activity in the wildlife sector has risen significantly, with both substance and syndicate poaching having become rife in the Victoria Falls and Hwange Region. For scouts and rangers patrolling on the ground it has become far too common to encounter a range of snares and traps, animals with poaching related injuries, and the most unfortunate, snared carcasses.

Enough is enough. We aim to stop this in its tracks through our own contributions to anti-poaching efforts.

WE ARE COMMITTED TO SUPPORTING THIS NGO THROUGH OUR WORK.

WELLNESS AND CONSERVATION : A UNIQUE CONNECTION

According to research, immersing into nature has positive outcomes on personal wellbeing as it heals, soothes, restores and connects.

Reduced stress, pain management, positive impacts on mental health, and increased individual sense of connection to something larger than themselves are a few items on an extensive list of benefits from immersing into nature.

In order to ensure future generations may enjoy the benefits of connecting with nature, it is vital that we preserve and protect these spaces as a way of giving back for what the natural world generously provides us.

With our founder being an avid conservationist, wildlife conservation has been integrated as a vital component to each of our offerings. We are proud to share our partnership with The Wildlife Initiative Trust Africa to aid in the protection of the wildlife that cannot protect itself against the impacts of poaching, global warming and other human interferences.

HOW YOU WILL BE SAVING ENDANGERED WILDLIFE BY ENJOYING OUR WELLNESS OFFERINGS

Ensuring WITA can keep their boots and paws on the ground is a project we hold close to our hearts. As a company, we have committed ourselves as a partner to this NGO by providing consistent financial support to their operations through each of our wellness offerings. This means, when you enjoy any of our Safari Experiences or join us on a Conservation Safari, you can rest easy knowing that you are saving critically endangered wildlife, whilst making unforgettable memories and transforming your personal wellbeing.

PRACTICAL SUPPORT FOR WITA

RANGER WELLNESS DEVELOPMENT

In addition to the financial contributions donated through your experiences, we support the physical and mental wellbeing of the WITA rangers.

As a Wellness Coordinator, our founder gives her time through providing both education and practical tools for wellbeing management to the rangers. This includes holistic wellness education, yoga classes, breath-work, meditations and other stress management techniques.

Through this work, we ensure the rangers on the frontlines in the war against poaching are not only physically fit and healthy, but are also able to manage the mental and emotional demands of their work.
